Gold for August shipment dropped $1.40 to $1,717.70 an ounce. Silver for September shipment increased 21 cents to $18.54 an ounce and also September copper increased 3 cents to $3.38 an extra pound. The buck was up to 136.00 Japanese yen from 136.72 yen. The euro was up to $1.012 from $1.022. (asterisk)
